Mary’s Journal

In the beginning…

Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19

With her Immaculate Heart so intimately connected to Jesus’ Sacred heart, it is possible, the more we know Mary, the mother, the more we may know Jesus, her Son, our Lord and Savior. It is God’s loving concept of His personal revelation to His most treasured creation…You and me, mankind.

Let us imagine for a moment…

The Blessed Mother Mary had kept a journal.

Imagine the pure and innocent words of a young girl, being raised in the temple, in preparation for her unique role in human salvation. Imagine her words of innocence and obedience as she met her beloved future husband with excitement and total trust in her parents and in her God.

Her handwriting would mature as she grew in age and in Wisdom. In today’s world, an analyst would discover only sanctity and grace which we all find when we enter in prayerful relationship with our Heavenly Mother. It is her loving, natural response to anyone who calls on her intercession.

Imagine how she would describe glorious light from heaven, descending an angel to her. How she is puzzled at his greeting, and yet confidently believes. She would write about the surrender of her own plans and her desire for God’s will above all things. What does a young girl feel when she will give birth to the Son of God? FEAR, great fear!

We might get a glimpse into Mary’s Journal when we say the Magnificat Prayer. Her own words of humility and praise are recorded in St. Luke’s Gospel. (1:46-55) It proclaims all God has done and is still doing for His Beloved Spouse. Mary’s holy life of prayer and service is beyond noteworthy. What a blessing to get an inside peek of her heartfelt and most pure thoughts!

Mary’s daily events would certainly include the beautiful psalms we still pray today. She knew them well and taught them to her Son. Psalms of praise, joy and lament would be part of her sacramental walk on this earth. They would enhance her expression of love in her most intimate relationship with God.

To Jesus… through Mary

Then, there would be tear-stained pages as she would barely write of her Son’s Passion and crucifixion. How His torture was her torture…His pain was her pain to bear. A mother’s love for a suffering and death of a child…words could not describe.

Imagine her immense joy when Jesus returned to her in His Resurrection and witnessing His Ascension back into heaven! Her trust in the Lord is fulfilled in the mystery of faith! Her pages are infused with Amazing Grace as she gives thanks and praise to Almighty God for all He has done, for who He is, and ever shall be.

Yes, Mary’s Journal is a sacred place to enter.

As we begin a new year friends, we once again give thought on how to better ourselves. Perhaps, one way is to be mindful of everyday moments of our faithful God in action. Keeping a journal can help us to see what our Heavenly Father sees. We might learn more from where we have been and shed light on where we are heading. Our history can be key to understanding our destiny.

Mother Mary’s earthly life reflected her Godly intuition. Through her intimate experiences with the Holy Spirit, she is a Spiritual director to us all. May we come to her as the Apostles and so many others did before us. Let that same Holy Spirit envelop us as we listen for Words of Wisdom…and why not jot them down?

Holy Mary, Mother of God

Pray for us!

New Year Blessings to all!

Until our next walk through the garden
