Balance of Power

Human nature craves a steady position in life. We strive for balance in vital areas for healthy living, eat well-balanced meals, get the right amount of sleep, and use our precious time wisely.

At the same time, we should be aware we are empowered by God to be the best we can be. In a delicate distribution of energy and strength, we hope to find our own Balance of Power.

In my many years as a Sunday school teacher, I so often wished parents of my students were in the classroom. The teachings are simplified to reach the 8th graders, but make the same impact on all people who want to increase their faith. Reminder, we are to be childlike in the eyes of God.

One lesson stands out, as it is still very effective in my Spiritual Direction today. I hope it will help you all, my faithful readers, to find a healthier balance in your everyday life.

Draw a 5-point star. Imagine it floating in water, like a starfish, in perfect balance. At each point write the area of life which is essential in living an abundant life. A lack in any of these areas will cause the starfish to ebb, inhibiting its natural movement.

1) Physical- Are we getting enough exercise, physical activity each day?

2) Social- Are we engaging in relationships, getting out with friends & family? Spending too much time alone?

3) Emotional- Do we often have mood swings? Do we find ourselves emotionally overwhelmed?

4) Mental- Do we subject ourselves with enough to stimulate our beautiful mind? Are we laden with too much on our plate?

5) Spiritual- I saved the best for last! How is our relationship with God? Does He come first in all we do? Do we truly love and trust Him? If so, we have what we need to remedy all the others!

Prayerfully ponder each of these areas in your life. Be honest with yourself. It may take courage or humility to identify our flaws, but we will find wise solutions when we insert the Power of God into our imperfections. Pray for the will to work on areas we are lacking, and God will fill us with the unlimited source of grace we need to keep us level.

In the beginning, for love of you and me, God formed our world in perfect balance. There is genuine concern our natural balance is coming off kilter, effecting the wonderful resourceful gifts we might take for granted.

The current balance of political power is constantly referring to global change, a new world order. We who walk with faith know the true power belongs only to the Creator Himself. Let us pray our world leaders have the integrity and vision to see what God sees. May they look to Him for healthy and holy solutions. God will lead us in renewal that is good for all mankind, and for all aspects of our world. In His love and mercy, Our Lord always provides.

The Power of Love

There is no greater influence than love itself. One song comes to mind from the 80’s by Huey Lewis & the News. The lyrics touch parts of emotional, physical, and even our spiritual self. Give it a listen with new ears. Feel the power of the love of God. The power that makes the world go round. Who knows, it might just save our lives! Now, that’s the power of love!

Let’s all tap into the power of the Love of God...

the true source for a healthy balanced life!

Be well blessed! | Be well balanced!

Until our next walk through the garden
